Authors must adhere to following guidelines while submitting research papers for publications in journal.
The research paper in the fields of geography, earth sciences should be submitted to Chief Editor, Uttar Pradesh Geographical Journal, before 31st of May every year.
Format of the Paper:
The general format of research papers should consist of
- Title – Brief and informative
- Author’s Name
- Abstract – The abstract should not exceed 150 words with 5 key words. It should highlight only techniques and significant findings.
- Address Full address with contact No & Email (below in footnotes )
- Introduction
- Objectives
- The study area
- Data used and Methodology
- Results and Discussion
- Conclusion
- References.
- Other Information:
- The manuscript, typed in double space on one side
- Submitted in two copies along with essential map, diagrams, and a soft copy on disk.
- The pages should be numbered consecutively.
- The length of the paper should not exceed 10 pages (double space) with tables and figures.
- Original drawing of maps only will be accepted.
- If the paper exceeds the page limit, the editorial board is free to remove extra pages.
- Photographs should be sharp and printed on black and white glossy bromide paper and if possible mounted on the light Weight white card. Contributors name and figure No. should be written lightly on the back. Colour maps in any paper will not be printed, Photocopy of colored maps will not be accepted.
- References should be placed at the end of the article as under: Gupta, Rupesh, 2008, “ Urban Growth Monitoring through Geo-informatics: A case of Ranchi City, Uttar Pradesh Geographical Journal, Vol., 13,p.5.
- Copyright Declaration & ethical requirements: The articles must be accompanied by a letter certifying that the paper has not been and will not be submitted elsewhere until a decision is received from the Editor. An article will be reviewed by Peer review Committee before publication in Uttar Pradesh Geographical Journal. All manuscripts for publication, copies of books, monographs, reports, etc., intended for review in the journal should be submitted to Dr. J.P. Gupta, Editor, Uttar Pradesh Geographical Journal, 124 C-1 Indira Nagar, Kanpur- 208026, U.P. , India before 31st of May every year.
- Disclaimer: The statement and opinions expressed in various articles are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the view of the Society or Editorial Board.
- Copyright transfer agreement: Submission of a paper to the Uttar Pradesh Geographical Journal will mean that the author has transferred the copyright to the publisher if and when the paper is accepted for publication. Any part of the research paper published in journal cannot be reproduced without prior permission of the Secretary of the Society.
Ethics Policy
- Role of Editors: The role of the editors is to evaluate the suitability of submitted manuscripts for the journal, including: (a) the quality of the manuscript, (b) whether it meets the Aims and Scope of the journal, and (c) the originality of the work. The editors will not disclose information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers or potential reviewers, or other members of the editorial board. Editors will ensure the prompt handling of the review process. Editors will evaluate the merit of manuscripts for intellectual content without regard to race, gender, country of origin, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation.
- Role of Reviewers: Peer review is essential to the journal in assisting in making editorial decisions and assisting authors in manuscript improvement. Reviewers should point out relevant publications not cited in the manuscript and point out any similarities with previously published works. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts with conflicts of interest, competitive, financial, or collaborative
- Role of Authors: Authors of original research (not previously published or under consideration for publication elsewhere) should be an accurate presentation of the work carried out, a discussion of the significance of the work in context with previous works, and should contain sufficient experimental detail to allow others to replicate the work. Appropriate citation of previously published works must always be included. Authors should disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest that may be construed as influencing the data or interpretation. All sources of financial support should be disclosed. Authorship should be limited to those persons who have made a significant contribution to the work in terms of conception, design, experimental implementation, and data analysis and interpretation. All persons making significant contributions should be included as co-authors.
- Plagiarism: If you suspect that an article is a substantial copy of another work, please let the editor know, citing the previous work in as much detail as possible
- Fraud: It is very difficult to detect the determined fraudster, but if you suspect the results in an article to be untrue, discuss it with the editor
Guidelines for Reviewers:
When reviewing the article, please keep the following in mind:
- Content Quality and Originality :

- Interesting to warrant publication
- Adhere to the journal’s standards
- Originality of the Contents
- Organization and Clarity

- Title: Does it clearly describe the article?
- Abstract: Does it reflect the content of the article?
- Introduction: The introduction should summarize relevant research to provide context, and explain what other authors’ findings, if any, are being challenged or extended.
- Method: Does the author accurately explain how the data was collected?
- Results. It should be clearly laid out and in a logical sequence.
- Conclusion/Discussion: Are the claims in this section supported by the results, do they seem reasonable? Does the conclusion explain how the research has moved the body of scientific knowledge forward?
- Tables, Figures, Images: Are they appropriate? Do they properly show the data? Are they easy to interpret and understand?
- Scope: Is the article in line with the aims and scope of the journal?
